Tips for your automobile

  1. Bullet Drive the speed limit!  Keep your speed steady, and use your cruise control whenever possible.

  2. Bullet Consolidate your trips.  Wait a few days and save gas by making fewer trips.

  3. Bullet Check your tires for proper inflation.  Your car will drive better, and your tires will last longer.

  4. Bullet Avoid the drive-thru window.  Park your car and go inside to pick up food.  Not only does idling waste gas, but it may be quicker!

  5. Bullet Replace your air filter at regular intervals.

Tips for your home

  1. Bullet Use cloth shopping bags.  They usually cost $1.00, and many stores will credit you five cents every time you use them.

  2. Bullet Utilize your city’s curbside recycling program.  Most do not require you to separate.  You’ll be surprised how much you can recycle every week.  Save money by using less trash bags.

  3. Bullet Lower the thermostat on your water heater to 120 degrees.  Wash your clothes in cold water whenever possible.

  4. Bullet Buy a reusable filter for your HVAC system, and clean it once per month.  They usually run no more than $20.00, and can be sprayed off with a garden hose.

  5. Bullet Put your computer to sleep, or turn it off when you will be away from it for several hours.

  6. Bullet Replace all the light bulbs in your home with CFL bulbs.  They cost less than $2.00 each, and they use 1/4 of the energy and can last for seven years!

Tips for your office

  1. Bullet Recycle your office paper.  If your workplace does not have a recycling program, start one!  Recycle newspapers, bottles and cans in your break room.

  2. Bullet Do not print documents unless absolutely necessary.  E-mail documents, or post them via the company intranet.

  3. Bullet Bring your lunch to work.  Not only will you save money by not going out for lunch, you will save gas.
